Have you been wanting throw more clay? OR just begin throwing in general? In this multi-week course, Malibu Potteries owner Rivers Redclay will guide you through the full pottery process, from centering clay on the wheel to trimming, glazing, and finishing pieces! We’ll start with the fundamentals of wheel throwing, learning how to center (the RIGHT WAY), pull our walls taller, and shape forms. From there, you’ll move into trimming, refining your pieces and giving them structure and balance. Finally, you’ll explore glazing, choosing finishes that bring your work to life. You will be throwing and cutting in half most of you pottery to learn from dissecting the pieces, and will be able to keep 4 finished vessels by the end of the workshop! This course is designed for both beginners and intermediate students. Rivers will tailor her instruction to guide each and every potter.
